Vietnamese Americans are a distinct community with a unique history of traumas and accomplishments. Both older and the newer generations carry a set of difficulties that impact our relationships and our place in the world. Because of this we face challenges with mental health and may find it difficult to openly discuss these issues within the community.

Speakers:
Dr. Leanh Nguyen was born in Nha Trang during the Vietnam War. She holds a PhD in clinical psychology. Trained in psychoanalysis and specialized in trauma, she has worked with immigrants, refugees, and survivors of persecution and torture for over 20 years and maintains an independent practice in Brooklyn.
Bonnie Nguyen is a fourth year medical student starting a family medicine residency in June. Having worked with behavioral health specialists and primary care physicians, she recognizes that mental health concerns, especially depression and anxiety, are common primary care visits. Bonnie is committed to addressing mental health needs in primary care settings.
Dr. Lynn Nguyen is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She started her career at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Manhattan and was also a clinical assistant professor at New York University School of Medicine. Currently, she has her own private practice in Manhattan specializing in depression, anxiety, and ADHD.
Dr. Kim Nguyen is a clinical psychologist with experience in trauma therapy and cross-cultural psychotherapy. She has worked at various college campuses, including CUNY Brooklyn College and CUNY The City College of New York. Currently, she works at Columbia University.
