Vietnam Heritage Center Remains Involved in the Community Despite COVID-19
The Vietnam Heritage Center (VHC) is one of many non-profit organizations that has been adversely affected by COVID-19 virus. The stay-at-home preventative measure, while prudent, has affected VHC’s ability to teach the remainder of classes for the Spring 2020 semester. VHC would like to offer students one of three options:
Receive a refund for one half of the semester’s fees;
Apply one half of the semester’s fees towards the Fall 2020 semester; or
Generously donate one half of the semester’s fees to VHC.
For those who choose option 3, VHC will provide four complimentary tickets to either Tet Trung Thu 2020 or Tet 2021 (one or the other, but not both). Please respond by May 15, 2020.
VHC firmly believes that in-person learning and interaction with others creates an enjoyable environment for learning Vietnamese. However, given the unforeseeable circumstances in these uncertain times, VHC is currently examining the possibility of online classes and how best to implement them for students.
Meanwhile, VHC remains dedicated to helping the Vietnamese community.
With Federal, State and City monetary aid anticipated in the near future, it is extremely important that the Vietnamese community complete the U.S. Census survey. The Vietnamese community should be accurately represented in the local geographic areas, since monetary aid is generally distributed on a per capita basis. May 1-3, 2020 is the U.S. Census digital weekend, so go to my2020census.gov and fill in your basic information. The census occurs once every 10 years. In addition, the U.S. government has distributed stimulus checks in recent weeks. VHC is partnering with local IRS representative Brenda Stuart-Luke to make sure that the Vietnamese community receives stimulus checks.
